Coronavirus Update

Message from the Commodore

We are all aware of the situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) which remains dynamic and is changing daily.

The BSC Board is keeping the situation under close review and wishes to reassure that all decisions prioritise above all the health and wellbeing of members and are based on the latest advice issued from the Scottish Government.

Actions taken
For the safety of all, we need to advise that crane-in has been delayed provisionally until 25th April. The decision to go ahead on that date will be reviewed and confirmed closer to the time.

The clubhouse and galley will be closed from 18.00 Friday evening (20th March). In case of emergency (if first aid equipment is needed, for example), the club house may still be accessed, but all social gatherings indoors are now prohibited. The toilets may be used if necessary, but members are strongly encouraged to follow good practice concerning hand washing and social distancing.

Reducing the Risk
We repeat advice given elsewhere:

  • Wash hands carefully and often with soap and water (or use an alcohol sanitiser where soap and water not available).
  • Cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

If any of the following conditions applies to you, please do not visit the BSC premises – clubhouse or yard.

  • Visited one of the higher risk areas in the last 14 days
  • Feel unwell generally with temperature, cough or shortness of breath
  • Been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 (Coronavirus) or who appears to have the symptoms

Any matters concerning the club, please contact the Club Secretary, or the Club Health & Safety Officer, by email or by phone if urgent.

Future Club Events

We will continue to monitor the situation and the viability of forthcoming events, in line with the advice available. We are extremely reluctant to reduce access to club facilities and to postpone lift-in, but we hope members will appreciate our need to react responsibly in the face of the health crisis that the entire country is currently facing.

Thank you for your support,
